Contains letters from Maori to McLean with regard to the whereabouts and activities of local Pai Marire factions, and about tensions between Pai Marire and pro Government Maori and attempts to make peace; there are also letters complaining about looting by Pai Marire.
There are also letters complaining about the purchase of land at Manawatu from non-owners, and a warning not to provide arms to Te Hiriwanu Kaimokopuna.
